‎CLARIFICATION ON THE AGE REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION 2026

 ‎

‎“Am I qualified to write JAMB this year based on my age?”, it becomes important to address and clarify the age requirement for this year's JAMB.

‎If you're still wondering if you can register for JAMB, especially because you're not up to 16 years old, then this message is for you!

‎STANDARD AGE REQUIREMENT

‎The official minimum age requirement to apply for JAMB is 16 years old. For those less than, they must be 16 years old latest by 30th September 2026 to be eligible for registration.

‎WHAT ABOUT THOSE BELOW 16 YEARS OLD?

‎You are NOT automatically disqualified, but the process of registration and admission is a different one.

‎FIRSTLY, if you're less than 16 years old and won't be 16 by September 30, you can still register for JAMB but in this case, you will be filling the JAMB form for EXCEPTIONAL CANDIDATE.

‎What does EXCEPTIONAL CANDIDATE mean?

‎It means you must score at least 80% across all your qualifying exams.

‎This means that, you must:

‎✓Score not less 320/400 in UTME

‎✓Score not less than 80% in your school's Post-UTME

‎✓Have not less than 80% in your Olevel result (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, etc)

‎SECONDLY, after writing UTME, your result will be withheld until JAMB completes a special evaluation. This means your result won't be released at the same time as others.

‎If you don’t meet ALL these conditions, your admission will not be granted, even if you pass UTME.

‎WHAT DO ALL THESE MEAN?

‎The age requirement is still 16 years old. However, writing JAMB is possible for under-16 candidates but admission is guaranteed only after meeting the above requirements.
